Tides Folly Beach is the big hotel at the foot of Center Street, right next to the Folly Beach Pier, and the only full-service oceanfront hotel on the island, which makes it the easy pick among Folly Beach hotels if you want to be on the sand. All 132 rooms look out on the Atlantic, and from the lobby you can walk to the pier, the beach and every restaurant and bar on Center Street without moving your car.
Downstairs is Pinky’s on the Beach, right on the sand, along with a heated oceanfront pool with a tiki bar and a coffee shop for breakfast sandwiches and pastries. The building opened in the 1980s and was once the Holiday Inn. Today it is an independent hotel managed by Charleston-based Avocet Hospitality.

- The views and the location are the reasons to stay. Reviews are mixed on the rooms themselves, with some guests finding them dated, so read recent reviews for the room type you want.
