If you’re looking for a family-friendly way to spend the day in October, FollyPalooza might just be your jam. Not only is this annual festival a rockin’ good time, but it’s also an event you can feel good about patronizing — FollyPalooza raises money for local cancer patients and other Folly resident in need of medical care.

Founded in 2007, the  festival takes place on Center Street, which is closed off from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to make way for the fun. What does that entail, exactly?

Well, it’s always evolving, but past years’ attractions include a dunk tank, carnival games and other activities for kids (think jump castles, fact painting, balloon animals, and more!). Naturally, the all-day event is set to a stellar soundtrack of local, live music.

And obviously you can’t come to Folly for a festival without tasty food being part of the picture — in addition to local restaurants serving up their fare, food stands and food trucks line Center Street throughout the day to quash any cravings you may have.

A silent auction and 50/50 raffle help to further the festival’s fundraising efforts, which have raised more than $30,000 and helped more than more than 20 individuals alleviate the stress caused by mounting medical bills.

As if you need any more incentive to mark your calendar and bring your crew to this fun-fest,  mull this over: entrance to the event is free. Having said that, you’ll want to bring a few dollars with you for extras such as bidding on silent auction items or buying tickets for games and activities — the latter of which can be purchased at special information booths on Center Street throughout the day.

For patrons who are interested in partaking of adult beverages during FollyPalooza, ID bracelets can be purchased at the t-shirt and info booth.

So grab a little cash, slather on some sunscreen, and bring your family to FollyPalooza for a day packed with good people, great food, and excellent music set against the backdrop of our beautiful beach town.
