FollyPalooza held its last festival in 2019, and its charity registration ended in 2022. If it ever returns, we’ll update this page with the date and details.
For more than a decade, FollyPalooza was a family-friendly October festival on Center Street that raised money for Folly Beach residents facing cancer and other medical bills. It’s no longer running, but here’s what it was like and what to do on Folly in October instead.
What FollyPalooza Was Like
Founded in 2007, FollyPalooza closed Center Street for the day for live local music, food from island restaurants and food trucks, and a kids’ zone with a dunk tank, carnival games, jump castles, face painting and balloon animals. Admission was free, and a silent auction and 50/50 raffle helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for neighbors with mounting medical bills.
Folly Beach in October Now
- Mermaids & Mateys (early October): Center Street’s fall festival, with costume contests, live music, 80+ vendors and a kids’ area. Admission is free with registration, and the festival raises money for charity.
- Halloween on Folly: costumes, parties and the island’s laid-back take on the holiday.
- Folly Beach Porchfest (early November): free live music on porches around the island.
