Halloween, Folly Style

folly beach vacation homes

While you could try to Trick or Treat on the Edge of America this All Hallows Eve, the real party (and most of the island’s residents) will be at the annual Folly Beach Halloween Carnival. Wear your costume, whether you’re a scary ghost, fairy princess, classic vampire, or any other goblin and come to Folly River Park Wednesday night for all the excitement and Halloween fun.

The annual Halloween Carnival brings the Folly community together for some festive entertainment with food, games, contests, prizes, treats, and maybe a trick or two. It’s a family affair, so there’s some fun for everyone. Or braver carnival-goers can enjoy the haunted cemetery. Also look for arts and crafts from local artisans and a variety of food vendors.

Costumed kids, from birth to 12 years old, are invited to join the Halloween Carnival’s costume contest. This year, spooky prizes will be awarded for the funniest, scariest, most original, and best overall costumes in each age group. And, of course, there will be plenty of Halloween candy to fill the bags of all the ghouls and boys.

The carnival will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Halloween night at Folly River Park on Center Street. There’s always a big crowd, so be sure to get there early. And carpooling or walking is encouraged since parking is limited.
