LoLo’s- Locklear’s on Little Oak

folly beach vacation homes

LoLo’s- Locklear’s on Little Oak, known locally as LoLo’s, provides gorgeous waterfront views, top-notch food, fun cocktails, and friendly service in a warm, casual atmosphere. Located at 2293 Folly Rd on the drive into Folly, LoLo’s rustic exterior may not look impressive. Still, it’s what’s happening inside a restaurant’s kitchen that counts, and the seafood is the shining star filling out this menu lineup. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with both indoor and outdoor dog-friendly seating, time it right, and you can experience a beautiful sunset while you dine and maybe even spot a dolphin or two frolicking in the tidal creek if you’re lucky.

Kickstart your meal with one of their scrumptious appetizers like a cup of their popular She Crab Soup (traditionally made with cream, blue crabmeat, crab roe (eggs) and a splash of sherry); Buffalo Fried Shrimp topped with blue cheese crumbles, Shrimp, and Crab Dip, Blackened Grouper Bites or their Mud Bug Basket (to the uninitiated that’s crawfish tails served with a side of remoulade sauce).

For an original non-seafood selection, try their fried Brussels Sprouts tossed with chimichurri and house-made bacon or indulge in a down-home Southern classic in their tangy, crunchy Fried Green Tomatoes paired with dill shallot mayo.

LoLo’s seafood specialties are highlighted by that iconic Lowcountry favorite Shrimp and Grits, as well as Peel & Eat Shrimp, a crab leg dinner, a Crab Boil, and a Lowcountry Boil (steamed goodness of crab leg clusters, peel and eat Shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes).

Lovers of fried seafood rejoice as LoLo’s offers up all your crispy favorites: fried Shrimp, flounder fillet, fried oysters, and fried scallops. If you can’t decide, order the Fried Feast, a towering platter of Shrimp, flounder, oysters, and scallops supplemented by sides of fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw.

Perhaps you prefer your seafood tucked into a flour tortilla? Sample either the Shrimp Tacos or Whitefish Tacos, both topped with lime scallion slaw and avocado puree.

You can also stack your seafood between two slices of bread and opt for the crab cake or flounder sandwich, a Shrimp Burger with more of that creamy dill shallot mayo, or build your choice of oyster, Shrimp, scallop, flounder, or crawfish po boy (chicken is also an option if you’re not in a seafood state of mind).

Their dessert list is short but sweet, featuring Key Lime Pie, Blondie (a white chocolate brownie served with a local strawberry puree and whipped cream), and New York Style Cheesecake. Online reviewers highly recommend the Key Lime Pie.

They offer fresh-squeezed lemonade, iced tea, canned sodas, and bottled water to drink. LoLo’s also carries wine and canned beer, including some local craft brews.

It’s nothing fancy, but for fresh and yummy Southern-style seafood that’ll make you happy, incorporate a LoLo’s meal into your family’s Folly vacation plans.
