When you get a hankering for a sweet treat on Folly there are plenty of local places where you can satisfy your sugary cravings. Depending on your mood, you can find frozen treats like ice cream, froyo (frozen yogurt) and smoothies, or the killer ‘C’s’ of confection goodness: cookies, cakes and candies.
Dolce Banana Café– While they specialize in froyo, Dolce Banana Café offers milkshakes, smoothies (pina colada is a fan favorite), boba tea, cookies and pastries. Indulge in a rotating mix of delicious frozen yogurt flavors that can include strawberry banana sorbet, salted caramel, Nutella, pistachio and Island Coconut. Then choose from an extensive list of toppings such as strawberries, banana, mango, hot fudge, Oreo, cookie dough and much more. Not feeling like frozen yogurt? Try a Boba tea, a popular Taiwanese tea drink blended with milk and chewy, sweet tapioca balls or “pearls,” that line the bottom of the cup.
Bert’s Market- Just a block off the beach, Bert’s Market is a Folly Beach institution. This funky local grocery store is a one stop shop that can meet the majority of your wants and needs, including sweet tooth urges. They offer delectable single serving cakes and pies in their bakery case for grab and go convenience. There is also a solid selection of ice cream pints as well as ice cream bars and sandwiches. And of course cookies are always another option. Oh, and as an added bonus they provide free coffee to customers 24/7, 365 days a year!
Folly Beach Pier Gift Shop- What better way to enjoy a beautiful warm day on Folly with your family than eating ice cream together while walking the pier and soaking up the ocean views and the sunshine? At the Pier Gift Shop you can buy a nautical-themed souvenir to commemorate your stay on Folly and order a cone or cup to carry with you on your relaxing stroll.
Pier 101- Pier 101 is the only restaurant featured on this list because of one specific dessert menu item: fried Twinkie sundae. It’s two golden fried Twinkies served with vanilla ice cream, drizzled in caramel and chocolate sauce, topped with crushed Oreos and polished off with mounds of whipped cream and cherries. If this spongy-caked colossus can’t satiate your sugar rush than nothing will.
